Changing the Face of the World…

One Portrait at a Time

Hi. I'm Jimmy Oligney, a New York City headshot/lifestyle/travel photographer. I've always been a creative, passionate, and compassionate person, but recently a change occurred that motivated me to step up my game. A few months ago my first child came into the world, the adorable and wonderful Sebastian Reed.

My time with Sebastian has been challenging, revelatory, and intensely rewarding. This fresh being has only a handful of needs; nourishment and love being primary among them. I believe that nourishment, love, and safety are birthrights of all humankind. It would be easy to put on blinders and claim that everything's great in my world, but in the global picture that's simply not the case.

Sebastian will inhabit this world much longer than I will and it's important to me that I do something to make the world a better place for him to live in. Additionally, it's important that I teach him, by example, how to continuously improve the condition and quality of life on this planet. We are all stewards of ecology, culture, civilization. It is within our power to make the world a better place.

Let's Make a Difference. Together.

I'd like to introduce a new initiative. For each photo session I book I will strongly encourage my client to make a donation to a charity of their choice, which Jimmy Oligney Photography will match up to $30.

Regardless of your financial or philanthropic status I believe that it is important to participate in the stewardship of our civilization. Join with me in making the world a better place to live for ourselves and future generations. My goal is to generate $10,000 for charities by the end of 2012.

Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world.
For, indeed, that's all who ever have.
- Margaret Mead

More ways to help, or "Whatever you do, don't take my photo!!"

Perhaps you're not feeling particularly photogenic today or are currently residing in a location too remote for us to participate in this cause together (see above). But, hey, the notion of making the world a better place still trips your trigger! I'm calling this the “Don't photograph me!” fund.

Simply donate $30 or more to the charity of your choice, send me a copy of the donation invoice along with a personal story of your passion for the particular cause. Send me a snapshot of yourself and we'll create a "You didn't photograph me, but…" wall with the names and testimonials of all the caring people out there who are trying to change the world with me.

For more information contact me about this initiative now!
